The aim of this course is to teach analytical techniques for various radioactive nuclides: from the sample to the test report, using a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The course focuses on the determination of 239/240Pu, 238Pu, 241Am, 238U, 235U, 234U and 210Po, including radiochemical sample preparation. You will gain an understanding of the relevant Austrian and European legal bases and frameworks governing the validation of analytical methods, quality assurance procedures, and the assessment and interpretation of results. Participants will be able to carry out sample preparation using either ion exchange, extraction chromatography or auto-deposition. Each participant will perform these procedures on real samples under professional supervision in a fully equipped laboratory.
