We are responsible for, and act as the point of contact for, research collaboration and partnerships at national, European and international level. We coordinate research and development projects, knowledge transfer and European networking projects, as well as measures to establish AGES’s organisational structures. We document AGES’s knowledge and the results of its research and development activities.
The research carried out by our experts enables us to assess risks more effectively, respond appropriately in crises and react promptly to new technical challenges. Furthermore, they underpin our standing as an independent, objective expert agency in Austria when it comes to issues along the food safety chain and health-related matters.
Our responsibilities
Research at AGES focuses in particular on
- the development and validation of common EU standards, methods, procedures, platforms, and testing and monitoring systems (regulatory procedures and as a basis for parameters in assessment, control and authorisation)
- Compiling data and producing studies and publications to serve as a basis for expert reports and (risk) assessments
- Studies and publications on OneHealth, public health, animal health, plant health, soil health, food safety and security of supply.
