Food under the microscope – Nutrient Monitoring Report 2017–2024

Nutrient Monitoring Report on Soft Drinks, Breakfast Cereals and Dairy Products 2017–2024

As part of the Austrian nutrient monitoring programme, AGES has been regularly collecting data on nutritional values (e.g. sugar and salt content) and other product-related information on foodstuffs available on the Austrian market since 2017.

The aim of this report is to highlight changes in nutrient levels in soft drinks and tea-based drinks, breakfast cereals and sweetened dairy products over the period from 2017/18 to 2024. It builds on the first report and supplements it with further findings.

The nutrient monitoring shows that a gradual reduction in sugar and salt content in the aforementioned product groups is possible.
