10 years of plant protection warning service
Together with the chambers of agriculture, AGES carries out numerous monitoring programmes in arable, vegetable, fruit and wine growing. This close cooperation enables early predictions to be made about the occurrence of plant pests and diseases - from spring to autumn. The focus is on pests in fruit, wine, field and vegetable cultivation. The warnings cover insects, mites, fungi, phytopathogenic viruses and bacteria. The Plant Protection Warning Service, a joint project of around 25 national and international partner organisations, now offers 40 forecasting models and 63 monitoring maps for over 70 pests.
"The warning service is a central instrument for sustainable plant protection," emphasises Anton Reinl, Managing Director of AGES. "It helps to organise the use of plant protection products in a targeted and efficient manner - an important contribution to protecting the environment and conserving resources."
While the plant protection warning service is aimed at farmers, our plant health warning service also offers hobby gardeners tips on the prevention and control of pathogens. They receive timely warnings about the occurrence of pathogens and their various stages of development as well as information about control options via our newsletter.
