Particular attention is being paid to the Asian tiger mosquito(Aedes albopictus), which has already spread massively in Europe in recent years. Invasive mosquito species are potential vectors of a large number of pathogens and therefore pose a risk to public health. This project aims to recognise the occurrence of these species at the airport at an early stage, enabling countermeasures to be taken in good time. Furthermore, the data obtained can be used to record the spatial and temporal changes in the occurrence of alien mosquito species throughout Austria.
