AGES is once again a partner in the EFSA’s Safe2Eat initiative this year, which provides consumers with scientifically sound and clearly presented information. The aim is to support safe decision-making in everyday food handling.
Austria has high standards and strict controls throughout the entire food chain. Nevertheless, many foodborne illnesses occur at home, for example due to poor hygiene, incorrect storage or mistakes during preparation. The campaign addresses precisely this issue and provides practical knowledge for greater food safety in everyday life.
AGES Managing Director Johannes Pleiner-Duxneuner emphasises: “Most foodborne illnesses actually occur in people’s own homes. Our mission is to ensure greater food safety in people’s everyday lives through clear and understandable tips.”
The #Safe2Eat 2026 campaign comprises information and communication initiatives at European and national level. AGES contributes its scientific expertise and supports the tailoring of content to specific target groups.
