The aim of the focus action was to carry out a check of ready-made doughs (e.g. cookie, gingerbread or vanilla wafer doughs, as well as other ready-made doughs) for shiga/verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC/STEC). These fecal germs can cause severe gastrointestinal and kidney diseases. 48 samples from all over Austria were examined:
