The aim of the targeted campaign was to carry out a thorough examination of muesli, porridge and bars intended for young children, in order to gain an overview of their composition, microbiological status and levels of contaminants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), mycotoxins, pesticides and heavy metals.
Fifty-one samples from across Austria were analysed. Seven samples were found to be non-compliant, in some cases on multiple occasions:
- Four samples due to exceeding the maximum level for the sum of T-2 and HT-2 toxins (mould toxins)
- four samples due to labelling deficiencies
