The aim of the targeted campaign ‘Verification of the (claimed) origin of asparagus – monitoring’ was to obtain as much accurate data as possible for a reference database, in order to be able to draw conclusions in future about the asparagus on offer on the Austrian market. In order to verify the origin and authenticity of asparagus in Austria, authentic reference samples (taken from farmers, directly from the field) were collected within Austria.

39 samples (reference samples) from across Austria were analysed. The data collected is intended for the purpose of establishing a reference database and was not subject to any food safety assessment.
