Final Report of Priority Action A-014-21

The aim of the focus action was to examine whether or to what extent the toy scooters on the Austrian market meet the requirements of the European standard EN 71-1 - in particular Z 4.15 - and to remove dangerous products from circulation. 30 samples from all over Austria were examined. 12 samples were objected to (in some cases several times):

  • a total of six samples were objected to (in some cases several times) due to safety deficiencies:
    • two samples showed technical defects
    • five samples were rejected because the packaging film was too thin
  • five samples were found to be defective in terms of labeling
  • eight samples were rejected due to a missing or defective EC declaration of conformity
  • three samples were rejected due to deficiencies with regard to the Toy Labeling Regulation.

With regard to the chemicals tested (plasticizers in the handlebar grips), no sample was objectionable.
