Final report of the priority action A-018-25

The aim of the priority action was the targeted sampling of atypical food distribution channels as part of official food monitoring. As these are only sampled in exceptional cases, but represent a relevant distribution channel for the product groups in question, they should be specifically monitored.

92 samples from all over Austria were analysed and assessed. 27 samples were rejected, in some cases several times:

  • 13 samples did not comply with Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers
  • Five samples were objected to in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006 on nutrition and health claims made on foods
  • Five samples were rejected for non-compliance with Delegated Regulation (EU) No 2016/128 supplementing Regulation (EU) 609/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the specific compositional and information requirements for foods for special medical purposes (labelling)
  • Four samples did not comply with Delegated Regulation (EU) No 2016/128 supplementing Regulation (EU) 609/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the specific compositional and information requirements for foods for special medical purposes (composition)
  • The provisions of Regulation (EU) 609/2013 on foods for infants and young children, foods for special medical purposes and daily rations for weight control diets were not complied with in four samples
  • One sample was rejected on the basis of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 on novel foods (Novel Food)
  • One sample did not comply with Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods
