The aim of this targeted campaign was to verify compliance with the requirements regarding metal migration in food contact materials made from uncoated metals. Compliance was assessed on the basis of the Council of Europe guideline ‘Metals and alloys used in food contact materials and articles’ (2024).

A total of 51 samples were analysed, of which four were found to be non-compliant on one or more occasions:

Three samples were classified as harmful to health
Three samples were rejected on the grounds of adversely affecting food (Section 16(1)(3) of the Food Safety Act (LMSVG))
