The aim of the focus campaign was to check the labelling of hygiene products for misleading and disease-related information.
50 samples from all over Austria were analysed, including seven online samples. Eleven samples were criticised, in some cases more than once:
- One sample was judged to be harmful to health
- Eight samples were objected to due to disease-related claims
- Three samples were rejected due to misleading claims of special properties
- One sample was rejected due to misleading - incorrect effects
- In three of the rejected samples (from the same manufacturer), there was an additional note on the labelling regarding misleading washing instructions
Most of the samples were objected to in connection with claims that gave the impression that the product could prevent, treat or cure diseases. Such claims are prohibited.
