The aim of the priority action was to test the cosmetic products used by hairdressers, in particular imported products for colouring hair.

36 samples from all over Austria were analysed. 27 samples were objected to (in some cases several times):

• One hair colouring product was objectionable as not safe (intended use)
• One sample contained an unauthorised fragrance
• Limit values for preservatives were exceeded in two samples
• 13 samples did not have the required information in German (in particular the safety-relevant precautions)
• 20 samples were objectionable due to further labelling deficiencies
• Eight samples were not notified
