Final report on priority action A-701-26

The aim of the targeted campaign ‘Acrylamide in deep-fried products from the catering sector and in thin wafer products’ was to test specific products for acrylamide, as high levels had been detected in a previous targeted campaign (A-007-22).

Seventy samples were analysed, of which ten were found to be non-compliant:

  • In six samples of sweet potato chips (out of 22 sweet potato samples), the guideline value for acrylamide (Regulation (EU) 2017/2158) and thus breached good manufacturing practice as set out in Regulation (EEC) No 315/93
  • In four waffle products (out of 19 waffle products), the guideline value for acrylamide was also exceeded, thereby breaching Regulation (EEC) No 315/93
  • None of the samples of onion rings or other fried vegetables were found to be non-compliant
