The introductory seminar on pesticides is organised by the National Reference Laboratory for Pesticide Residues at AGES, based at the Institute for Food Safety in Innsbruck.
During this 1.5-day seminar, you will gain an overview of the topic of pesticide residues in food. Taking a holistic approach, the course content covers regulatory aspects, provides an overview of the relevant analytical detection methods, and examines the food safety system in the EU and the official control functions of the Member States.

- Analytical methods in pesticide residue analysis: multi-method and single-method approaches
- Guideline on quality assurance and validation in pesticide analysis: SANTE/11312/2021 as amended
- Interaction between EFSA, the EC, EURLs/NRLs/OFLs and national authorities in the Member States
- Proficiency testing & interlaboratory tests
- Interpretation of test reports: detection and quantification limits, measurement uncertainty
- Laboratory tour of the National Reference Laboratory: Requirements for laboratory infrastructure and staff qualifications, quality management requirements in an accredited laboratory
- Principles of the expert assessment of pesticide residues
