The event focuses on current analytical approaches to detecting food fraud in aquatic products and the application of these modern methods in biodiversity research.
The focus is on innovative methods of DNA-based metabarcoding for the identification of fish species and authenticity testing. The specialist presentations will examine the validation and application of modern molecular biological techniques in the routine analysis of fish and seafood samples.
Another presentation will cover the application of eDNA metabarcoding to survey fish communities in natural waters. These approaches provide a valuable foundation for monitoring, species conservation and biodiversity. In addition, the Federal Office for Food Safety (BAES) will provide insights into the control of fishery and aquaculture products.
The webinar combines scientific research with practical implementation and regulatory perspectives, and promotes dialogue between the analytical sector, regulatory authorities and the research community in the context of food safety and biodiversity.
This event is the latest instalment in the training series on food fraud, which has been running since 2025, covering specialist topics.
