Particular attention is being paid to the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), which has spread rapidly throughout Europe in recent years. Invasive mosquito species are potential vectors for a variety of pathogens and therefore pose a threat to public health. This project aims to detect the presence of these species at the airport at an early stage, enabling timely countermeasures to be taken. Furthermore, the data obtained can be used to record spatial and temporal changes in the occurrence of non-native mosquito species throughout Austria.
