AGES has been recognized by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology as the first training company for radon protection officers. The first course will take place at the end of October in Eidenberg near Linz.

The newly created function of a radon protection officer was laid down in the new Radiation Protection Act 2020. This stipulates that operators of workplaces in so-called radon protection areas or of workplaces where special exposure conditions are to be expected must survey the radon concentration at workplaces. If radon concentrations above the reference value of 300 Bq/m³ are determined and if these cannot be lowered by appropriate optimization, a dose assessment must be carried out for the employees. If at least one employee is exposed to a radon dose greater than 6 millisieverts per year, a radon protection officer must be appointed. This can be a person directly from the affected company or an externally commissioned expert. This position requires appropriate specialist knowledge, which is imparted in the "Training for Radon Protection Officers in accordance with RnV Annex 6".

We are the first recognized training company to offer the first course for radon protection officers from October 24 to 25, 2023 in Eidenberg near Linz. The course instructors are radon experts with many years of experience in this field.

The course is open to all occupational groups, as the companies concerned may come from different sectors, for example, water wardens, water masters, heads of municipal offices, plant managers or employees in radon spas, etc. The content of the course is in accordance with the radon protection regulations.

In the course the contents according to the Radon Protection Ordinance Annex 6 are imparted, in a workshop concrete case studies from the future field of activity of the participants are treated and discussed. The course concludes with an examination. Successful course graduates can be entered in the "List of Radon Protection Officers" (to be found in future at www.radon.gv.at ).
