The aim of the focus action was to obtain an up-to-date overview of the contamination of the chocolates offered on the Austrian market with regard to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, cadmium and aluminum. Furthermore, the compliance of the composition of the submitted products with the legal requirements of the Chocolate Ordinance was examined. In addition, any labeling deficiencies were to be identified.

A total of 53 samples from all over Austria were examined. Of these, 21 samples were found to be defective, in some cases several times:
