The aim of this targeted campaign was to examine packaged food products from various categories in terms of microbiology, composition and labelling, and to review product-specific advertising on selected domestic online shops.
A total of 63 samples from across Austria were examined. 43 samples were found to be non-compliant (in some cases on multiple occasions):
- One sample was deemed to be of reduced quality due to microbiological deviations
- One sample due to an unauthorised ingredient
- One sample due to a deviation in composition
- 40 samples due to labelling deficiencies
- 15 samples due to unauthorised nutrition and/or health claims
- One sample due to unauthorised health claims
