The aim of the focus action was to check whether or to what extent toys with a warming function (toys with heatable bags filled with various types of cereals, polymer granules, heatable gels or similar) available on the Austrian market meet the requirements of the Toy Ordinance, in particular whether they meet the requirements of the harmonized standards of the EN 71 series as well as the specified requirements in the "EC type approval protocol No. 5 Microwavable toys Rev1. NB-TOYS/2018/033" of the "European Co-Coordination of notified Bodies NB-TOYS".

35 samples from all over Austria were examined. 13 samples were rejected (partly several times):

• ten samples were objected because of a missing or defective EC declaration of conformity
• in four samples the labeling was objected to (due to wrongly affixed warnings or missing CE-marking)
• one sample was rejected with regard to the toy regulation (composition) - the requested technical documents could not be submitted and therefore the fulfillment of the safety requirements could not be proven.
