Final Report of Priority Action A-900-20

The aim of the priority action was to comprehensively record the contamination of samples with residues from Austrian primary production. Extensive investigations are carried out on the following groups of substances:

  • prohibited substances
  • substances approved as veterinary medicines such as antibiotics, agents against endo- and ectoparasites, painkillers and anti-inflammatory agents including corticosteroids
  • pesticides
  • heavy metals
  • Mold toxins

745 samples from all over Austria were examined. One sample was objectionable:

  • Milk: no sample was objectionable.
  • Eggs: no sample was objectionable.
  • Honey: tylosin was detected in one sample. According to Regulation (EC) No. 470/2009, this residue must not be present in honey. Accordingly, the sample was assessed as "unsafe - unfit for human consumption".
