The aim of the focus action was to examine cut melons with regard to microbiological criteria. The samples were examined for hygiene indicator germs and pathogenic germs. 49 samples from all over Austria were examined. Six samples were rejected:

  • In one sample, the warning value for presumptive Bacillus cereus germs was exceeded.
  • The warning value for Enterobacteriaceae was exceeded in three samples.
  • In two samples, both the warning value for Enterobacteriaceae and that for presumptive Bacillus cereus germs were exceeded.
