Final Report of Priority Action A-012-21

The aim of the focus action was to obtain information on the metal legality of colorfully decorated children's, souvenir, handicraft and manufactured ceramic and porcelain goods available on the Austrian market. The focus was on products manufactured by companies themselves or imported.

61 samples from all over Austria were examined. 32 samples were rejected:

  • 30 samples were objected to with regard to the Ceramics Ordinance No. 893/1993
  • five samples were rejected with regard to the Regulation on Food Contact Materials (EC) No. 1935/2004 (traceability)
  • one sample was objected to with regard to misleading - inaccurate properties (§ 5 para. 2 line 2 LMSVG).

None of the samples exceeded the limits for metal permissibility. The complaints under the Ceramics Ordinance were based entirely on inadequate declarations of conformity.
