The aim of the targeted campaign was to check the levels of elements and the accompanying declarations of conformity. The levels of other toxicologically relevant elements were also analysed and assessed.

50 samples from across Austria were examined. 21 samples were found to be non-compliant, in some cases on multiple occasions:

• One sample was assessed as harmful to health
• One sample was deemed unsuitable for its intended use
• 19 samples were rejected for breaches of the Ceramics Regulation
• One sample was rejected due to adverse effects on food
