The aim of the focus action was to check various products for permitted and prohibited colorants and preservatives. In this context, the labeling of edible sausage casings on packaged sausages was also checked. 33 samples from all over Austria were examined. Four samples were rejected:

• One sample of "Bio Hauswürstel" was objected to, among other things, because of misleading information about the sausage casing used.
• One sample was rejected due to high levels of undeclared preservatives in the ready-to-eat product.
• Two other samples were rejected due to other labeling deficiencies.
