The aim of the focus action was to check the claim "gluten-free" for products offered in the catering trade, in bakeries and bakery sales outlets, confectioners and coffee houses and sold as "open goods".

A total of 99 samples from all over Austria were examined. 19 samples were objected to:

  • All samples because of gluten, six of them were harmful to health because of their high gluten content
