The focus action served to check the cosmetic products imported or dispensed by hairdressers for compliance with the requirements of the Ordinance on Cosmetic Products. 42 samples from all over Austria were examined. 34 samples were objected (partly several times):

• 27 samples were objected to due to missing or defective labeling according to the Ordinance on Cosmetic Products.
• twelve samples were objected to according to the Cosmetics Implementation Ordinance
• ten samples were not notified in the European database and therefore did not meet the requirements of the Cosmetic Products Regulation
• three samples were rejected due to their composition according to the Cosmetic Products Regulation
• one sample was judged unsuitable for the intended use due to increased bacterial counts.

This focal action showed that products imported from third countries, which are used in hairdressing salons and are also dispensed to customers, have a very high complaint rate (81%).
