The aim of the focus action was to check the Austrian market for the presence of antibiotic-resistant germs in chicken and turkey meat.

A total of 553 samples from all over Austria were examined.

ESBL/AmpC-forming E. coli were detectable in 164 of the samples tested.
Carbapenemase-forming E. coli were not detectable in any of the samples.
