Things are getting serious: from 27 September 2026, the new requirements set out in the Empowering Consumers Directive (EmpCo Directive) will come into force. This will impose clear legal limits on claims such as ‘sustainable’, ‘climate-neutral’ or ‘environmentally friendly’, as well as on sustainability labels – including those on LMSVG goods.
No transition periods are planned, which means that all products on the market as of the effective date will be covered by the EmpCo Directive and must comply with the requirements to avoid potential penalties.
To find out what you need to bear in mind now, and how sustainability claims can still be communicated in a legally compliant manner, watch our webinar recording from 27 March 2026. You can expect an overview of the legal changes, their classification and a discussion based on practical examples.
