The aim of the focus action was to measure the heavy metal content in table salt and to collect data on the occurrence of microplastics in selected samples. 75 samples from Austria and other EU and non-EU countries were examined. Three samples were rejected:

• One sample was unsuitable for intended use due to a significantly higher load of microplastics caused by the mechanical abrasion from the grinder.
• Two samples were objected to due to their adverse effect caused by dark colored plastic parts of the grinder, which rub off during use.
