Final Report of Priority Action A-600-20

This focal action served to verify the implementation of general and specific hygiene requirements and to verify self-monitoring in approved high-risk establishments (= establishments handling and processing food of animal origin). A total of 313 food samples from all over Austria were examined. Ten food samples were rejected in total:

  • for milk, five of the 207 food samples were objected to (one sample due to Escherichia coli, two samples due to Enterobacteriaceae, one sample due to Escherichia coli and coagulase-positive staphylococci, one sample due to a statement about the shelf life of the product that was suitable for misleading)
  • in the case of meat, one of the 71 food samples (too long expiry date)
  • for fish, four out of 35 food samples (two samples for coagulase-positive staphylococci, one sample for listeria, one sample for overstated use-by date)
