The aim of the focus action was to determine technically avoidable levels of the banned substance phenol in nail polishes. Seventy samples from all over Austria were examined. Phenol could not be detected in any sample. Nine samples were nevertheless rejected:

• In five samples, an inventory list was not available either on the product or near the point of sale
• In the case of four other samples, mandatory information was not properly attached.
• In one sample, the notification was also missing
