The focus action examined food supplements and cosmetic products from various distribution channels that were suspected of containing pharmaceuticals. Sampling was carried out in cooperation with the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
31 samples were drawn. 25 samples were assigned to the food category food supplements, six samples to the category cosmetic products.
- One "Ayurvedic Medicine" toothpaste was classified by the BASG as a medicinal product for presentation due to its claims.
- None of the drawn samples contained substances that would have made the product a functional medicinal product
- A total of 13 samples were objected to on the basis of food or cosmetics law, seven of which were food supplements and four cosmetic products.
