Orientation values for maximum background values (OMB)

The results of several years of measurements from rural locations in Austria have been evaluated using parameter-free tests in line with VDI 3857, Part 2 (2014) and OMBs have been derived from these for standardised grass culture (active biomonitoring) and for meadow grass surface growth (passive biomonitoring) - the calculation being based on the equation: OmB = 75th percentile + 1.5th interquartile range). For tree leaves (passive biomonitoring) the rounded 95% percentile* is stated as the OMB because of influences partly due to the specific type of tree.
