The target of nutritional prevention is reducing malnutrition and overeating, as well as reversing the trend towards increasing numbers of overweight and adipose people.
The AGES Nutrition & Prevention Centre offers its professional expertise in the prevention of nutrition-related diseases in the form of target group-specific information, such as brochures, presentations, workshops and the implementation and evaluation of preventative measures and programmes.
It will be important to get as many initiatives and activities started, bundled and coordinated, so that healthier choices will become the easier choices for everyone living in Austria. AGES is conducting the programme for early nutrition "Richtig essen von Anfang an!" (Eat right from the start!) and the initiative for school nutrition "Unser Schulbuffet" (Our school cafeteria), as part of the Austrian Nutrition Action Plan.
AGES carries out activities as part of the national Nutrition Action Plan successfully on a continuous basis. Examples include the programme “Healthy eating from the start!” (also see Solid Food Recommendations for Infants) and the initiative “Our School Cafeteria”. Another activity is the scientific preparation of nutritional recommendations for older and elderly people (see Aging and Nutrition).
