Cosmetic GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or "Good Manufacturing Practice" describes codes of conduct and regulations that must be observed and complied with when manufacturing cosmetic products, with the goal of reproducing the products in the quality desired.
The legal obligations for applying the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice are set out in Article 8 Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 on cosmetic products.
The Guideline of the Austrian Code Commission on the Manufacturing of Cosmetic Products in Line with the Principöes of Good Manufacturing Practices (cosmetics GMP) (2nd edition) has been available to cosmetics manufacturers since May 2007.
The “Cosmetics - Good Manufcaturing Practices (GMP) - Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices (EN ISO 22716:2007)” have already been approved by both the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and CEN (Comité Européen de Normalisation).
The "Cosmetics - Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) - Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices" has the status of a national standard through its adoption by the Austrian Standardisation Body (ÖNORM EN ISO 22716 - Draft).
