On 5th September 2005, under business reference number BMGF-20125/0041-III/B/7/2005, the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) was awarded the contract to:

  1. Produce an annual report
  2. Provide specialist information and advice for doctors and patients regarding the rabies situation in Austria and abroad and also, if required, to provide advice on the indications regarding vaccination against rabies following a bite injury inflicted by a suspected rabid animal, as well as providing information for travellers in line with WHO recommendations.

Advisory services shall be provided at IMED in Vienna on 365 days a year. A medical doctor or veterinarian will be available in person at the following address:

Währinger Straße 25a, 1090 Wien.

Titer testing to detect rabies antibodies in humans is carried out by:
