National Reference Centre for Yersinia (with the exception of Yersinia pestis)
Since 1 January 2011, the National Reference Centre for Yersinia (except Yersinia pestis) has been based at the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hygiene in Graz. All submitted isolates, predominantly from human samples, are subjected to the following tests: biochemical identification, biotyping, serotyping, detection of phenotypical pathogenicity properties, and determination of resistance. In addition, the Reference Centre is responsible for statistical surveys, reporting, providing support with outbreak investigations, and maintaining a reference strain collection.
