IBR/IPV Testing

Rinder auf der Weide

IBR/IPV is a disease caused by Bovine Herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1). This disease is harmless to human beings and has no impact on food safety. It can however be the cause of severe economic losses in populations of cattle.
Since 1999, Austria has officially been free from IBR/IPV and has received additional guarantees on the part of the EU. This freedom from the disease contributes considerably to the good animal health status of the Austrian domestic cattle population, which in turn has a positive bearing on the competitiveness of Austrian cattle farmers.
