Detection of Cyanide Residues in Food and Feed

Content
In European regulation, maximum permissible levels are set for cyanides in food and feed (e.g. apricot kernels, linseed etc). Furthermore, regulations for import of apricot kernels have been published. Besides free hydrocyanic acid as found in spirits, also cyanogenic glycosides (hydrocyanic acid bound to glycosides) are found in food and feed.
In the practical course, differences in the analyses of free and bound hydrocyanic acid are discussed theoretically. In addition, each participant under expert guidance in the fully equipped laboratory analyzes real samples.
