The aim of the priority action "A-901 EU Pesticide Control Program" was to check whether the maximum levels of pesticide residues in or on food of plant and animal origin are complied with. 152 samples from all over Austria were examined. Four samples were objected to:

• in two samples, the EU-wide maximum residue levels were exceeded
• two samples were suspected of violating EU organic regulations. They were objected to because of misleading information.

To monitor pesticide residues in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin, a coordinated control program is carried out throughout the EU over several years. This control program is drawn up for three years at a time, updated annually and published in the form of a regulation. It specifies which samples must be analyzed by the individual member states for which pesticide/product combinations.
