AGES in numbers

Foundation: 1 June 2002 as a limited liability company, attached to the Federal Minister for Health and Women’s Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. AGES was stablished on the basis of a Federal law with a public service mission.

With its inception 18 federal agencies and federal agencies in the areas of food testing, veterinary medicine and agriculture were merged into one company.

Since then, the AGES operates at six locations in Austria. 82 reference centers and laboratories provide scientific expertise to the work of a total of 1,360 employees.
