The tasks of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology encompass the diagnosis of infections as part of the fight against animal epidemics and zoonoses, as well as veterinary tests for animal-based samples in the region with the highest density of poultry in Austria.
Focus:
- Bacteriological diagnosis as part of zoonoses surveillance and resistance Monitoring
- Contact for veterinary issues with regards to bacterial zoonoses (e.g. salmonella, campylobacter, outbreak surveys)
- Consultancy and expert Services
- Project partner for the professional public, animal health service and local veterinary Service
- Applied research
