
The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) is responsible for several tasks in regard to public health and food safety. The organization researches, analyzes and performs inspections according to the policy guidelines of Austrian and EU-laws. The agency dedicates itself to the prevention and control of diseases in plants, animals and human population. Licensing of drugs, medicine products, seeds and pesticides are tasks performed by AGES as an authority. Thereby, AGES can provide the body of knowledge for the whole food chain cycle, from the soil, where the food chain begins, to the human body, where the effects of nutrition become visible.

AGES can easily be reached by public transport. Take the metro line U1 to "Kagraner Platz". There change to bus line 24 A. Get off at "Breitenleer Strasse/Spargefeldstrasse". The bus stop is close to the main entrance of AGES.
